Dendrological Survey and Greenery Inventory

The obligation to carry out dendrological survey and greenery inventory before any intervention into public greenery is made, is stipulated in the Act No. 114/1992 Coll., on Nature and Landscape Protection, as amended.

Dendrological survey is part of construction/investment plan/operation project documentation (e.g. territorial proceedings, construction permit).

Dendrological survey may also be required for projects involving substitute planting, landscaping, timber planting or planting measures for existing trees.

Dendrological survey can also be carried out within the EIA report (in accordance with Act No. 100/2001 Coll.) and used in the framework of a comprehensive assessment of a project in the form of a separate annex, i.e. as part of the EIA Notice, or EIA documentation.

The basis for dendrological surveys and greenery inventory is a geodetic survey of individual tree species and vegetation groups.

The overall quality of a tree is defined by the term “planting value”, which encompasses a set of all physiological, biomechanical, ecological and aesthetic factors.

The project may also include evaluation of trees according to the methodology of the Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection of the Czech Republic called „Evaluation of trees growing outside the forest”, or project of substitute planting in accordance with Act No. 114/1992 Coll.
