Landscape, visualization
Landscape character is defined as natural, cultural and historical characterization of certain place or area and is protected from deterioration, i.e. by activities reducing its aesthetic, cultural and natural value.
Landscape character is defined by features and special characters that make the area unique and distinctive, such as terrain morphology, the character of water courses and water areas, vegetation, settlement, land use etc.
The assessment of impacts on the landscape character is an integral part of a comprehensive assessment of the effects of various activities and investment plans on the environment in accordance with Act No. 100/2001 Coll., On Environmental Impact Assessment, as amended.
Legislative protection of Landscape character is stipulated in § 12 of Act No. 114/1992 Coll., On Nature and Landscape Protection, as amended.
Current landscape character protection
Current Landscape character protection is devoted to assess the impact of a specific project on a landscape character of the area of concern, this includes the impact of proposed structures, the impact of activities, the impact of land use, etc.
Preventive protection of landscape character
Preventive landscape character protection focuses on land assessment, to set limits and measures for landscape character protection, to define protection zones, to suggest the reduction or elimination of negative and disturbing impacts.
The assessment of the impact on landscape character should be a standard and objectified evaluation process and therefore, a standardized methodology for landscape character assessment and experienced assessor are used in the assessment.
